Vintage Royal Holland Lloyd Ship Line Silver Plated Napkin Ring With Logo
This is a rare vintage piece of maritime history.  The ring is about 1 1/8” tall and 1 3/4" across.  It has the logo of the ship line with the words LLOYD HOLLANDSCHE KONINKLIJKE.  The other side has the number 34 and A1.
One of the ships of this line, the SS Tubantia, was sunk by a German torpedo during WWI.
The ship line was founded in 1899 to carry cattle and cargo between Amsterdam and South America.
In 1906 the company started taking emigrants from Amsterdam to Buenos Aires.
Between 1917 and 1919 the company also made a few calls at New York.
In 1935 Passenger services ceased
The company continued to run a cargo service to South America until 1970 when it was incorporated in the NEDLLOYD group.
